For the past 34 years, I've resided in Israel and have always held Yom Ha’Zikaron in high regard. Unlike the United States' Memorial Day, which is often characterized by fun, shopping, vacations, and barbecues, Yom Ha’Zikaron in Israel is a day of deep significance, solemnity, and emotion.
